| Snooze News Vol. 1, May 2008 Sleep Tips - Getting a Good Night’s Sleep The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported the results of a study based on a 2006 survey of four US states that suggests 10% of adult Americans are not getting enough daily rest or sleep. Are you in this group? Well, you have lots of company. Here are some tips that may help you catch some additional winks. Go to bed and get up at the same time everyday – even on those weekend nights when you thought you could catch up on some lost sleep. Get into a nighttime routine – a nice warm bath, soothing music, and a good book (no, not the latest “slasher” novel). Make your sleeping area comfortable, quiet, cool, and dark – covering that ever-changing time display on your radio or clock might be helpful. Remove work papers, computers, and TV's from your sleeping area – sorry, no more late-night comedians! Don’t eat a meal just before bedtime – eat 2 to 3 hours before going to bed. Exercise on a regular basis, but NOT right before bedtime – a few hours before bedtime is best. Avoid alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine – that includes chocolate! And, here’s where Banner Mattress can help you… Make certain you have a comfortable mattress. Sign Up! Fill out the form below and we'll send you our quarterly newsletter via e-mail.
